Kamini

It’s almost 15 years old story but i can still remember that day very well when it was raining heavily. My younger brother Sachin who have been almost age of 7 at that time was playing in rain outside and entered at home holding a very dirty, ugly ,almost skeleton dog puppy in his hand. Both puppy and brother was shivering by being wet. Actually puppy sounds something good, honestly i wud describe that pupply as a “marne wali beemar desi piliya". I scolded at my bro "kaha se utha laya ise, mar jayega ye,jaha se laya hai ise wahi chodh aa".
"Bhaiya Naali mai pada hua tha, mai ise palunga" this was a reply from his side. i did'nt like that puppy at very first sight at that time because my uncle also used to has a puppy and his puppy was a Alsation breed of dog so how cud we have such a weak ugly desi puppy, This is what my childish mind thought at that time.My mother who always has been a very kind hearted woman gave her immediate acceptance to my brother and My childish anger turned on on very high and I denied to touch that puppy. My brother and Mom gave a bath to that puppy, my brother arranged a place for that at one corner of house, gave milk etc to it. My brother used care a lot of that puppy. Name given to that puppy was "Kamini" a name just opposite to her features,i dont knw how and why but this name was given to her.
Kamini was so weak and always used to look ill even after doing lots of care. When we used to take her in our hand it used to feel like we were holding bones in our hand. Kamini was such ugly that whoever came to our house at that time really hated her. But Perhaps Kamini had understood that she is no longer a “desi piliya” she had been owned and owned by someone who are really caring towards her.So Kaimini used to fulfill all her duties of being a good owned puppy. She used to bark at when monkeys used to come on roof, as well as used to bark at strangers too, used to sit at doors, used to show her affection by moving her tail when my brother used to call her.
Kamini was a down to earth puppy as she had got to know that she was a very poor and desi breed and her any attitude like other alsation puppies won’t be tolerated. As she had known that she would be thrown out of house if she made a single mistake .She always used to obey all our commands and never spoiled anything. If we used to say her once“Kamini apney bistar par ja” she immediately started moving towards her place.when she used to look towards us her eyes seemed to be so innocent and wet as that dumb animal was saying "please never leave me as i have noone else besides you".
She had been almost for 2-3 months with us.I also started liking her But one day that animal left this world. Even after death her body was looking as she was sleeping and that day someone wept for her.
Me and my brother took her body in a bag and buried her under a pipal tree on a ground far away from our home.
I don’t know why I wrote this blog about that puppy but I still remember her innocent and always wet eyes. Perhaps I still remember that puppy because love, innocence and gratitude in her eyes was so true and selfless.
Only a Animal can have that kind of true gratitude, innocence and true love towards someone. Perhaps We Human could learn something from Animal and perhaps We Human could also learn to love truly and to live unselfishly.
